Hyderabad, Nov. 10

Satyam Computer Services has acquired Motorola’s captive software development centre (SDC) in Malaysia for an undisclosed consideration.

Following the acquisition, all the 128 Motorola employees at the centre have become Satyam staff. “They will be doing what they have been doing,” Mr T.R. Anand, Head of TIMES (telecom, infra, media, entertainment and semi-conduct) vertical of Satyam, told Business Line.

“This will help Satyam in acquiring capabilities in the areas like mobility and strengthen our presence in Malaysia,” he said.

In Malaysia, the company is developing a 15-acre campus in the Cyberjaya Multimedia Super Corridor.

The SDC is part of Motorola’s Home and Networks Mobility business, which focuses on network management system development.

“This acquisition will integrate and strengthen Satyam’s product engineering services to Network Equipment Providers and Operations in the areas of element management, mobile solutions and access networks,” said Mr Nishith Mathur, Head of Satyam’s Technology Infrastructure business unit.

The deal is expected to be completed by December 31, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange earlier.

Motorola would contract with Satyam for development services of its management services.
