Lupin to sell cardiac drug

Mumbai, Nov. 10

Drug-maker Lupin Ltd has got the regulatory approval to launch a generic version of heart-rate lowering medicine Ivabradine in India. Sold under the brand name Ivabrad, the drug is being distributed by Lupin following its alliance with Chandigarh-based drug-maker Ind-Swift, who had developed the chemically similar, or generic version of Ivabradine, a Lupin spokesperson told Business Line. Details on the financial nature of the agreement were not divulged. Lupin's cardiovascular drugs segment has grown from about Rs 130 crore in fiscal 2006-07 to over Rs 175 crores in fiscal 2007-08, a note from Lupin said. - Our Bureau
