Boeing to deliver 110 aircraft

Hyderabad, Oct. 14

Boeing, the leading aircraft manufacturer, will be delivering 110 aircraft to Indian carriers such as Air India and Jet Airways in the next five years. The size of the total order book from India is put at Rs 1,500 crore, according to Mr Dinesh A Keskar, Senior Vice-President (Sales, Commercial Aircraft), Boeing. Mr Keskar was here in connection with the maiden India Aviation 2008 beginning October 15. At the air show, Air India would be acquiring a 777 aircraft, the long-haul aircraft that could fly 14 hours at a stretch. Stating that there was a reduction in the number of passengers, he said there could be a decrease of 10 per cent in capacities globally. While attributing the reason to the spiralling fuel costs, he, however, hoped that the numbers would not dip further. - Our Bureau
