Accidents States - Andhra Pradesh Trainer aircraft of AP academy crashes into colony; kills two Our Bureau Hyderabad, Sept. 8 A trainer aircraft of the AP Aviation Academy crashed into the residential Sanathnagar colony adjoining the Begumpet Airport, killing the trainer Mr Niraj Jain (26) and the trainee Mr Srinivas (20) and injuring one. Barely reaching a kilometre high after it took off from the airport at 10.45 a.m. on Monday, the two-seater Cessna-152 aircraft tripped and crashed into a small street, damaging two houses. The loss to life and property, however, was low as the small-bodied aircraft fell almost vertically and into a deserted street in a colony that is clustered with small houses and apartments. There was a school too, a few metres away. The Begumpet airport, which was closed for commercial operations, is being used for training purposes, VIP movements and unscheduled aircraft. Capt. S.N. Reddy, Chief Executive Officer of the Academy, said the engine of the small aircraft was in good condition. It, incidentally, completed one-hour of training session with another set of a trainer and trainee in the morning. “No abnormality was found in the aircraft,” he said.
