Floriculture States - Tamil Nadu TN varsity bags 2 farm projects Our Bureau Coimbatore, Aug 27 The Indian Council of Agricultural Research has sanctioned two out of the 25 NAIP (National Agricultural Innovation Projects) to the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. The projects titled – ‘Value Chain on Flowers for Domestic and Export Markets’, and ‘Value Chain on Industrial Agro-forestry in Tamil Nadu’ are time-bound, and should be executed within a period of four years. The total outlay is Rs 6.78 cr, with the grant towards the former amounting to Rs 3.70 cr and the balance Rs 3.08 cr towards the latter. Dr J.P. Mittal, National Coordinator, NAIP, said the projects aim to address the core issues and missing links at various levels, at making the proposition cost effective, improving production and post harvest technology standards and facilitating market linkage. “It would be a consortium mode approach. There would be strict monitoring and follow up,” he added. The TNAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr C.
