Our Bureau Hyderabad, Aug 9 As part of its skill development initiatives, IT major Infosys will train over 6,000 faculty in various engineering colleges/institutes in the next two years. The initiative, being taken up under the Indo-US Engineering education programme, has already identified 584 engineering colleges (out of 1,500) and 23 senior professors from the US universities who would handle the training. “The programme would also cover tier II and tier III towns,” Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy, Founder and Chief Mentor, Infosys Technologies Ltd, said while addressing the students of Indian Business School (ISB) here on Saturday. “Given the scale of recruitment in my industry (IT), the quality of input resources is bound to be lower and lower,” Mr Murthy said while observing that own training programmes at company level and broader initiatives in the industry level are required to be taken up. Hiring the bestThe only way of organisational growth is to hire the best people. “But the best will not come unless there is higher professionalism in which data and facts are used to come to a conclusion on a certain issue,” he said. Giving an example of professionalism, he said Infosys is the only company in the country in which founders get much lesser salary than their colleagues in the top management. “In many companies, the Chief Executive Officers are abrogating the right to decide their compensation,” he pointed out. Referring to the current growth of economy, he said contemporary India was offering many opportunities for the youngsters to grow.
