This request was contained in a memorandum sent by the Association of Old Businessmen of Sikkim to the Chief Minister, Mr Pawan Chamling, last week. While congratulating the Chief Minister for having “effectively met the aspirations of the Sikkimese people by fulfilling a long pending demand of exemption from Central Income Tax to Sikkim subject holders” the Association has said that “old businessmen” should also be included in the tax exemption, taking into consideration the contributions made by them over the years. A delegation of old businessmen had earlier called on the Chief Minister on April 10 and drawn his attention to their plea. The association has also asked the Chief Minister to bring a resolution to this effect in the current session of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly. More Stories on : Petroleum | Taxation | Other States
