Hyderabad, March 11 Technology solutions provider Satyam Computer is in pursuit of a few major business transformation deals through its Oracle practice in the area of Government, civil aviation and financial services.

The company has also applied for three trademark rights for the ‘express solutions’ that the company has developed in house, which make technology deployments much faster. These pack about 11 years of accumulated learning.

The Senior Vice-President and Head of Satyam’s Oracle Practice, Mr Sriram Papani, told Business Line that the company Oracle practice has now grown to about 6,000 people up from 4,000 last year and is aiming to hit the 10,000-mark in couple of years.

“The business momentum is such that a few deals are under advanced stage of negotiations and are likely to materialise by next quarter. As a company that generates about 40 per cent of total revenues from this practice through consultancy, we see significant business prospects,” he said.

“While we are already working with over 10 civil aviation companies in the Middle East and the US, there have been negotiations with some of the civil aviation companies in the US for long-term deals that are aimed at streamlining business processes,” he said.

UN project

Referring to the UN’s healthcare project where the company is working on a roll out of technology solutions across over 100 countries, Mr Sriram said that deals of such nature show the scope of engagement for the company.

The company has one of the largest enterprise practices. Along with SAP, the company offers widest solutions covering diverse set of verticals.

Independent research firm Forrester has rated Satyam among top thee consultants along with Accenture and Deloitte for its Oracle practice and this vindicates the nature and scope of engagements that the company is handling now and pursuing, which are fructifying, he said.
