New Delhi, Feb. 26 Greycells18 has announced the launch of Topper, India’s first curriculum-based education television channel. The channel will combine TV and Internet as its medium of education.

Starting with classes IX to XII, the channel will provide validated curriculum based content complying with CBSE and other related state boards and cover Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The channel will be a free-to-view 24 hours initially, available on DTH platforms like Tata Sky and Dish TV.

Greycells18 Media Pvt Ltd is joint venture of Mr Sunil Khanna, former head DTH, Reliance and Mr Sricharan Iyengar, former VP and Business Head, ESPN Star Sports. It is co-promoted by Mr Raghav Bahl of Network18 and Mr Shantanu Prakash of Educomp, in their personal capacities and Capital18, Network18’s private equity initiative.

“Statistics show that there are approximately 300 million kids who enrolled in schools across India. With limited seats available in colleges and premium professional courses, it is imperative to have a strong primary and secondary education background,” said Mr Sunil Khanna, co-founder of Greycells18.

Topper features a group of star teachers who worked in the best institutes of the world,” added Mr Sricharan Iyengar. The teachers include those teaching at Pittsburg University, IIM Bangalore, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, and IIT Delhi. “Education is a priority for the country, and Capital18 is happy to be associated with this pioneering venture. We are extremely bullish about this endeavour and look forward to expand our presence in the education sector,” said Mr Sarbvir Singh, Managing Director of Capital18.

The channel will be supported with topperlearning.com
