Strategy Kingfisher Airlines ties up with watchmaker Hublot Our Bureau Mumbai, Feb. 21 The UB Group-owned Kingfisher Airlines has announced a partnership with the Geneva-based luxury watchmaker Hublot to produce a limited edition of watches to be made available on board the airlines. With this tie up, Hublot will launch its brand — Big Bang King — in India in association with the brand Kingfisher First. “We will produce a strictly limited range of timepieces exclusively for the first class passengers of Kingfisher Airlines on the domestic as well as international routes. We may release a few watches in the high-end luxury watch retail outlets later on, but we want it to be an exclusive product available on board Kingfisher,” said Mr Vijay Mallya, Chairman and Managing Director, Kingfisher Airlines. To begin with, 50 pieces of Hublot’s watches will be sold by next year. Though the demand is for 40,000 watches per annum, currently they can make only 20,000 pieces, said Mr Jean-Claude Biver, President, Hublot. The watches will be priced at $12,000, he added. Mr Biver expressed interest in participating in the cricket scenario in India, which could provide him wider publicity. More Stories on : Strategy | Airlines | Watches & Accessories
