Our Bureau Hyderabad, Feb. 20 Satyam Computer today launched Satyam Entry-Level Engineering Development programme (SEED) to groom about 600-800 engineers in a year. This programme puts entry level engineers in a four- month training programme and is aimed at building quality resource pool to support engineering programmes of global clients. This features customised training modules designed to shrink the grooming time. The first batch of 50 engineers has been trained at the company technology campus. Satyam has signed up with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore ( for Aerospace domain), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Chennai (non-Aerospace domains) and Central Institute for Tool Design (CITD) Hyderabad, for courseware. The Global Head, Satyam Integrated Engineering Services, Dr. T.S.K. Murthy, in a statement said: “Today manufacturing companies want to gain competitive advantage through Global Product Development. Implementing this requires reconfiguring product development activities across multiple regions of the world.” The programme encompasses design basics from premier engineering institutes, followed by industry visits and training on 3D CAD systems taught at real time tool rooms. As per the Nasscom-Booz Allen Hamilton report, market for off-shored engineering services in India is likely to be about $40 billion by 2020 and require about 1,00,000 engineering graduates.
