Alliances & Joint Ventures Industry & Economy - Power
New Delhi, Feb. 15 NTPC Ltd and Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) have signed an agreement to promote a joint venture company to establish, operate and maintain a 1,980-MW (3x660MW) coal-based power station at Nabinagar in Bihar. NTPC and BSEB would have equal shareholding of 50:50 in the joint veuture, NTPC informed the BSE. The agreement was signed by Mr T. Sankaralingam, CMD, NTPC, and Mr Swapan Mukherjee, Chairman, BSEB. NTPC currently has an installed capacity of 28,644 MW (includin g 1,794 MW through various joint ventures). The power major is diversifying into hydro generation, coal mining, power distribution, power trading and equipment manufacturing, among other related sectors.
