CSC to double headcount

Adith Charlie

Mumbai, Feb. 15 US based Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), which currently has an employee strength of 16,500 in India, will double the headcount to 33,000 in the next two years. This will enable the company to maintain its growth momentum and increase revenues from in India, according to Ms Padmaja Krishnan, Director-Market Planning & Research, CSC, who spoke to Business Line on the sidelines of the NASSCOM leadership summit in the city.

"The company may also setup new development centres in both metros as well as tier 2 cities for achieving these targets," added Ms Krishnan

The headcount addition will be achieved through both organic and inorganic activity, added Ms Krishnan. Globally, CSC has been pretty aggressive on the mergers and acquisition front. In April last year, CSC acquired rival Covansys for $1.3 billion in an all cash deal to ramp up its operations in India,

CSC has been seeing its India business grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 75 per cent, added Ms Krishnan. This growth has been mostly driven by new service offerings such as ERP, infrastructure management, testing etc.

Traditionally, only 10 per cent of CSC’s hiring has been from campuses and educational institutes. This is very low compared to industry standards where in college hiring is anywhere between 30-50 per cent of overall hirings.

However, in order to meet this target of doubling headcount, CSC will increase its hiring from campuses, added Ms Krishnan.
