Rice Industry & Economy - Exports & Imports States - Tamil Nadu `End rice export imbroglio' Coimbatore, Feb. 15 The hold-up of rice shipments at various ports due to ban on their exports will spoil the farming community's hard-work, a farmers body has charged. The Salem-based United Farmers Association, citing the reported detention of rice shipments at ports by the customs authorities, said that these shipments were made based on export contracts and hence the Government has a duty to allow the shipment to go through. The Association President, Mr Vaiyapuri, has in a communication stated that it is unfortunate that a communication gap between two Government wings over the notification on ban on export was responsible for the hold-up. - Our Bureau
