Paper, Board & Newsprint Recycled paper mills’ wish-list New Delhi, Feb. 12 The Indian Agro and Recycled Paper Mills Association (IARPMA) has urged the Government to take necessary action to control the increasing raw material cost and rationalise tax structure to dovetail the growth in the industry. In its pre-Budget memorandum, the association said fluctuation in international raw material costs and energy is affecting the bottom lines of the manufacturers who are on the verge of closures. Among the other concerns include increased cost of trans portations and wages. It has asked the Government to rationalise the excise and customs duties in the forthcoming Budget. It has also appealed to them to bring down the excise duty on all varieties of paper and paperboards to eight per cent from 12 per cent, Mr Pramod Agarwal, Vice-President of the association, said. The industry body has also sought a technology upgradation fund in line with textile industry to overcome technological obsolescence of the industry. Implementation of TUF will enable the industry to bring down the production costs and add capacities, he added. – Our Bureau More Stories on : Paper | rd & Newsprint | Budget
