eGoM meeting on SEZ put off

New Delhi, Feb 4

A meeting of the empowered Group of Ministers (eGoM) on Special Economic Zones, scheduled for today, to discuss the Finance Ministry’s concern over the tax breaks being extended to SEZ units as also developers and ceiling on acquisition of land for such zones has been put off. The Union Commerce Minister, Mr Kamal Nath, while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a book release function of the Council for Leather Exports here attributed no specific reason for the cancellation of the eGom. The eGoM is headed by the Union External Affairs Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee. —
