Health insurance for artisans

Madurai, Jan 24

The Ministry of Textiles has launched the Rajiv Gandhi Artisans Health Insurance Scheme, aimed at providing a comprehensive health insurance package for handicraft artisans, in association with ICICI Lombard General Insurance. Under the scheme, the craft persons and their families will get reimbursement of medical expenses subject to an annual limit of Rs 15,000 per family, consisting of the artisan, spouse and two children and parents. A sum of Rs 1 lakh for personal disability or death due to accident is also available. Artisans below the age of 80 can benefit under the scheme. They need to hold a valid identity card issued by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts). - Our Correspondent
