Infosys BPO eyes 3 large deals

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Jan. 16 IT services firm Infosys Technologies’ Business Process Outsourcing unit, Infosys BPO, today said it is currently negotiating on three IT/BPO transformational deals in $50 million to $150 million range.

“We are pursuing orders involving integrated IT/BPO transformational approach involving technology, re-engineering and process. We are going to clients and offering to take over the processes, invest in technological changes and automate the processes,” Mr Amitabh Chaudhry, CEO and Managing Director of Infosys BPO Ltd, told reporters.

He said that the Infosys BPO had already signed two deals structured on similar lines, but declined to name the clients. “In cases where we are engaged in talks with potential clients, these deals could take anywhere from three to six months to be finalised,” he said.

On deals which have come up for renewal, Mr Chaudhry said that the company was securing 15-25 per cent higher prices.

The firm is also eyeing revenue of $250 million for the fiscal year 2007-08, he said. It has already recorded revenues of about $176 million in first nine months of 2007-08. The firm is well-prepared for any further appreciation in the rupee against the dollar in the next 15-18 months, he pointed out.

The BPO arm of Infosys would also add 1,000 employees to its payroll in the January-March quarter. Mr Chaudhry said that Infosys BPO was looking at opening about a 1000-seat facility in the National Capital Region to augment its existing operations.
