Venus Remedies’ units get export nod for Europe

New Delhi, Jan. 1 Venus Remedies, the Chandigarh-based company focussed on injectibles, has received the European Good Manufacturing Practice certification for two of it plants. This will help it market its Cephalosporin and Carbapenem anti-infective products in regulated markets, said Venus Remedies in a statement.

The company will now be able to export its products to European markets from its Indian plants. And according to the company’s spokesperson, it also aligns its German subsidiary, Venus Pharma GmbH, with its Indian facilities.

“This certification, a pre-requisite for exports to regulated markets, has come in at a perfect time and as per company plans, when the company has filed for patents for its five innovative formulations in 50 countries across the globe. With this accreditation, the company can now freely export to not only 36 countries of European Union, but also to Canada and Australia and many more countries, world wide, which recognize European GMP,” said the statement.

Venus Remedies has already entered into product development, manufacturing and marketing agreements with European pharmaceutical companies for its specialty anti-biotic range of Cephalosporins and Carbapenems. And it says, talks are on with others for the Canadian market.

It has also in-licensed two technologies and developed products which are presently under clinical trials. Venus is in talks with “interested parties for out-licensing its own research products for regulated markets.” Sales were at Rs 141 crore last financial year and the company is targeting a 50 per cent year-on-year growth.
