Human Resources Capgemini to hike headcount Our Bureau Kolkata, Dec. 18 Consulting, technology and outsourcing services major Capgemini will increase the headcount at its Indian operations from 18,000 at present to 30,000 by the end of 2008 because of growth in business operations. Speaking to newspersons at the conclusion of a round table discussion on ‘Destination West Bengal: IT and Biotechnology’ organised here today under the aegis of the European Union-India Trade & Investment Development Programme, Mr Gautam Mukherjee, Director of Capgemini Consulting India, said the company currently operates in six cities, i.e. Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore. Kolkata centreHe said the headcount in Kolkata would go up from 900 to 2,000 by December 2008. The Kolkata centre was the fastest to touch a headcount of 500. The idea was to make the Kolkata centre a “benchmark for Capgemini India in terms of delivery and operations”. The centre would focus on retail and telecom sectors, he said.
