Our Bureau

Bangalore, Dec. 12 Despite the rapidly rising rupee, the Indian IT industry is well on track to achieve its software export target of $60 billion by 2010.

Speaking to reporters here at the Nasscom IT Leadership Summit, Mr Kiran Karnik, President, Nasscom, said that the “rupee rose much too fast, but we are confident of achieving our export target.”

Replying to query on some IT companies relocating to near-shore destinations, Mr Karnik said that the Government has to support the industry in matters such as taxation policy.

“If other countries are offering huge incentives to attract these companies, then we cannot afford to ignore that,” he said.
