Customs duty collections increase 17.2% in April-November

The Centre’s customs duty revenues continue to be buoyant, with collections recording 17.2 per cent growth during April-November 2007 to Rs 66,838 crore compared with Rs 57,050 crore collected in the corresponding period last year.

An official release said that excise collections during April-November registered growth of 7.5 per cent at Rs 75,013 crore compared with Rs 69,957 crore. In November, excise duty revenues grew 5.3 per cent to Rs 10,065 crore. Service tax collections up to October 2007 stood at Rs 25,420 crore, representing a growth of 35.3 per cent to collections of Rs 18,792 crore during April-October 2007.
