Rolls-Royce unveils Phantom Drophead Coupe

Luxury segment car priced at Rs 3.10 cr

Mumbai, Nov 30 Rolls-Royce Motor Cars unveiled Phantom Drophead Coupe today in Mumbai.

This is the first appearance of the new two-door, four-seat convertible in India. The luxury segment car targeting high-net-worth individuals is priced Rs 3.10 crore.

“This is an exclusive product. We target individuals with very high net worth, who have $30 million (Rs 120 crore) in cash,” said Mr Collin Kelly, Rolls Royce Regional Director for Asia Pacific.

Good response

According to Mr Kelly, the car has received good response worldwide. “We sold 100 Phantom Drophead Coupe across the world in 2007. We have received significant interest for the new Phantom Drophead Coupe and the first car is expected to be delivered to a customer very shortly,” said Mr Kelly.

About the sales in India, he said, “We are showing it to certain people exclusively across the country and we expect good sales”.

Phantom Drophead Coupe has an advanced all-aluminium spaceframe and a sleek, streamlined convertible body. Its exterior lines echo the styling of Rolls-Royce: a long bonnet, large diameter wheels, short front and long rear overhangs.

The sales of Rolls-Royce cars in India have increased over the years.

“The luxury car segment in India is expanding. We have sold 15 Rolls-Royce cars this year,” said Mr Navnit Kachalia, Chairman and Managing Director of Navnit Motors Pvt Ltd Mumbai. Navnit Motors is the only Rolls-Royce dealer in the country.
