Restricting UMPP

The Government is mulling over the idea of restricting allotment of 2 plants to each company for 4,000 MW plants under UMPP (Ultra Mega Power Projects). This move, besides violating tender conditions of those already floated, will restrict competition.

It is better to avoid new complications that might delay any of the schemes planned for the 11th Plan, which set a lofty target of nearly 79,000 MW capacity addition.
