Avanade to tap ‘unique Indian talent’

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Nov. 13 Avanade is betting on service oriented architecture (SOA), digital collaboration and e-commerce installations to drive its future business. The company expects to garner projects in these domains in the US, the UK and Japan.

A joint venture between Microsoft and Accenture, Avanade has a headcount of 7,500 globally. In India, the company has been operational for five years and is located in six cities. “We are present here to leverage the unique Indian talent,” said Mr Mitch Hill, Chief Executive Officer, Avanade, in the city on Tuesday. The company will not focus on India as a market immediately, he added.

SOA is about designing and developing solutions that make business sense, rather than technology-centric packaged solution approach. It gives bottom line cost savings and top line revenue growth. Over 60 per cent of Avanade’s offerings are on SOA. The big ‘Aha!’ moment for SOA will only come when business processes combine with applications to become more flexible and real-time, said Mr Ashish Kumar, Chief Technology Officer, Avanade.

About 30 per cent of the business is on creating next generation workplaces, using Microsoft’s Sharepoint and Unified Communications suite. Application virtualisation will be a great opportunity for the firm.
