Call for quick merger of BHPV with BHEL

Our Bureau

Visakhapatnam, Oct. 30

The CITU has urged the Union Government to expedite the process of merging the public sector Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels Ltd (BHPV) here with BHEL, as it will be beneficial to both the companies.

At a press meet here on Tuesday, Mr M.K. Pandhe, national president of CITU, said the Union Government was not willing to write off the accumulated losses of BHPV, as was done in the case of other units, and this was the main hindrance to the merger with the BHEL, which is willing to take over BHPV and revive it and even the Government of Andhra Pradesh had done its bit by gifting the land.

He blamed the Union Heavy Industries Ministry for the delay in the process and urged the Government to take immediate steps.
