Pune to host ‘Florex India 2007’

Mumbai, Oct. 30 Floriculture wealth of India will be showcased at a mega event ‘Florex India 2007’ to be held in Pune between November 2 and 4. The expo will be inaugurated by the Union Agriculture Minister, Mr Sharad Pawar.

The event includes an international exhibition-cum-trade show, a summit to discuss issues related to floriculture and a buyer-seller meet.

Apart from Pune and neighbouring states, farmers and horticulture officials from countries such as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are also expected to participate.

Floriculture professionals from developed floriculture economics such as Germany, The Netherlands, UK and US, will debate issues and prepare a blueprint “Indian Floriculture Tomorrow”. In addition, several interactive workshops and special technology sessions have been arranged on specific aspects of floriculture production and value-additions.

The summit is expected to bring leading floriculture importers from the US, Japan, the UK, Germany, Dubai and Hong Kong in touch with suppliers here.

The event is coordinated by the Western India Floriculture Association and supported by the South India Floriculture Association, Flower Growers Association of India, Indian Society of Ornamental Horticulture and Indian Nurserymen Association. APEDA, National Horticulture Board and National Horticulture Mission and Government of Maharashtra.
