Software Info-Tech - Financial Performance Corporate Results - Software NIIT net profit rises 31% on higher margins

Pawar, Chairman, NIIT, addressing a press conference in the Capital on Thursday. — Our Bureau New Delhi, Oct. 25 IT training and global talent development company NIIT Ltd today registered 31 per cent rise in consolidated profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 21.1 crore for the second quarter of the fiscal while its operating margins improved significantly. The company’s net revenue grew 33 per cent to Rs 270.2 crore as a result of its talent development initiatives across multiple sectors including IT, banking, and executive management education. “The company posted an operating profit (EBITDA) of Rs 35.8 crore, representing a 50 per cent growth over the corresponding period previous year. This is primarily due to the fact that some of our new businesses are now achieving a break even, and also operational leverages are stepping in with increase in capacity utilisation in individual learning business,” the NIIT Chairman, Mr Rajendra S. Pawar, said at a conference here. Order bookThe pending order book of the company as on September 30, 2007 stood at Rs 541 crore. Fresh system-wide order intake during the quarter was Rs 435 crore. Its operating margins improved by 152 basis points to 13 per cent. The company’s individual learning solutions recorded a 31 per cent growth in net revenue in the second quarter over the same period last year, while career segment revenue grew to 37 per cent. Continuing with the focus of building talent for the high growth IT infrastructure management space, NIIT extended the new Network and Infrastructure Management curriculum to over 176 centres across the country. Training networkThe company expanded its global training network by entering into alliances in China, Malaysia and Vietnam. Through its alliance with the ChongQing Information Industry Bureau (CQIIB), NIIT would offer its programmes in universities and colleges in ChongQing. The company also partnered with the Ministry of Human Resources, Malaysia, to implement its ‘NIIT Inside’ model.
