2 tankers collide at Haldia dock

Our Bureau

Kolkata, Sept. 14 Two tankers collided at Haldia dock on Thursday night but no major damage was reported. There were no casualties, according to dock sources.

The collision occurred when “Prem Pride” was casting off after unloading naphtha at number one oil jetty of the dock. Suddenly the ship drifted and brushed against another tanker “Bharati Dasan” berthed in oil jetty number two.

Bharati Dasan was to discharge motor spirit and superior kerosene oil. Both the vessels ran aground.

The dock authorities swung into action and both the vessels were set afloat with the help of tugs. Prem Pride later sailed off while Bharati Dasan is currently unloading. She will sail off as soon as she completes discharging, the sources added.
