Announcements TeamLease steps up activity in North-East
“Attrition among these people is also relatively lower and they prefer to stay with peer group from the region,” says V-P
Anjali Prayag Bangalore, Aug. 11 Staffing solutions company TeamLease Services Pvt Ltd is stepping up its hiring activity in the North-East region to strengthen its temp staff talent pool. “We have increased hiring in the region because talent from the region has an ability to migrate into a new environment easily, has a higher aptitude in selling and has strong English language skills,” according to Mr Deep Mukherjee, Vice-President, TeamLease Services Pvt Ltd. An added advantage is the strong supply base that companies could choose from, he said. TeamLease, which is tapping the non-metro regions for hiring temps, started its Guwahati operations about a year ago and already recruited about 1,500 people from the region across various sectors. In fact, in the last six weeks alone, nearly 300 people have been recruited from the region for an assignment outside the North Eastern region, Mr Mukherjee said. “Attrition among these people is also relatively lower and they prefer to stay with peer group from the region.” Recognising the need to tap this talent pool, Nasscom recently announced the Nasscom Assessment of Competence for the North Eastern region to identify talent from the hinterland and providing them with jobs in the high-growth BPO segment. “The North-East has an abundance of well-educated and hard-working youngsters to help maintain India’s edge in the offshoring industry with balanced and continued supply of human power,” according to Mr Kiran Karnik, President, Nasscom.
