Sports Choose us or Indian Cricket League: BCCI
Our Bureau, New Delhi, Aug. 8 The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked cricketers and others to choose between them and Zee Telefilms’ Subhash Chandra’s Indian Cricket League The ICL, which was launched by Mr Chandra in April, boasts of a prize-money of $1 million (Rs 4.28 crore), and has a commitment of a corpus fund of Rs 100 crore from the joint venture between Essel Group and Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Ltd. ICL already has the support of Kapil Dev and Brian Lara, and reportedly a host of other international players, who are yet to confirm their association. The BCCI warning is expected to deter cricketers to join the new league. Meanwhile the board is expected to soon invite sponsorship bids for one day internationals, tests and 20/20 matches to be played in India between September 2007 and March 2010.
