The Hindu Business Line : Vanaz Engineers sets up LPG station in Pune

Vanaz Engineers Ltd, Auto LPG Dispensing Station installers and suppliers, have launched their first LPG station at Warje in Pune. Spread across 15,000 sq ft, it has a storage capacity of 27,000 litres of auto LPG and has two dispensers where four vehicles can fill up at a time.

The station would remain open 24 hours, Mr Rajesh Date, Senior Project Management Coordinator, Auto LPG Dispensing Station-Division, Vanaz Engineers, said here on Friday. He noted that Vanaz would be setting up four more stations in Pune, which would come up in Fursungi, Nagar Road, Katraj and Bhugaon.

All these stations are likely to be operational in next 12 months, he said. Mr Date stated that the company is planning to run a pilot project in Pune, where the Auto LPG Kits installation service would be offered adjacent to the stations. In addition, an issue related to safety of Auto LPG Kit would be addressed by trained team at Vanaz Stations.

Once successful, it would be taken to the other Vanaz LPG Stations in a phased manner. Mr Date pointed out that currently there are only eight Auto LPG Dispensing Stations in Pune city and PCMC (Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation) catering to the need of over 22,500 vehicles.

To provide to the current requirement, 20 Auto LPG Dispensing Stations are required in Pune and PCMC, he pointed out. Vanaz would also hold a free check up camp at Warje station on August 15 for autorickshaws running on LPG. Procedure for enrolment would be announced soon, he said.

Commenting on the national expansion plans, Mr Date said installation work for 32 more Auto LPG Dispensing Stations is already underway and all are likely to be operational by August 2008. Out of these 32 stations, 12 would come up in Gujarat, 11 in Maharashtra, four in Andhra Pradesh, three in Rajasthan, and one each in Chhattisgarh and Goa.

Various ties ups

This will take the total number of Vanaz Stations in India to 57. In the last financial year Vanaz sold over 1,70,000,00 litres of Auto LPG, the average sale of Auto LPG from each station was about 5,500 litres per day. Mr Date said Vanaz has tied up with SHV Energy Pvt Ltd (Supergas), a Dutch multi-national, for continuous supply of LPG to its dispensing stations.

He noted that to cater to the larger geographical area, it has initiated talks with Shell Gas India and Indian Oil Petronas for the supply of Auto LPG to its stations. It also has a technical collaboration with Yenen Engineering, Turkey, and Mokobouw, a Dutch major for technology related to dispensers, and for operations and trouble shooting, respectively.

It also has a technical tie-up with US-based Red Jacket and Corken for supply and support of LPG pumps, he added.
