Infrastructure Government - States States want model concession agreements online
Our Bureau New Delhi, July 21 States want the model concession agreements prepared by the Union Government for various sectors to be made available on Web sites. This was one of the suggestions received from state governments at the conference of chief secretaries on public-private partnership projects. Guiding terms
Model concession agreements are standardised contract documents that spell out the guiding terms for large infrastructure projects operated by private parties. “State governments said they would like the model concession agreements prepared by the Central Government to be put up on the Web sites,” the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, told newspersons after the conference. He said he has invited state governments to reflect on the day’s proceedings and provide inputs for the XI plan, which would be out by this yearend. Viability gap funding
Asked whether there was a move to increase the level of viability gap funding from the existing 20 per cent, Mr Ahluwalia declined to divulge. “The present level (of 20 per cent) prevails as of now,” he said. He added that India Infrastructure Finance Corporation Ltd would also make funds available. “We have suggested the states put out a list of projects for private sector on offer,” he said. He added that Karnataka is already doing this.
