Our Bureau Bangalore July 19 Wipro BPO plans to start delivery operations in China during the current quarter to serve its customers in the region, said the Chief Executive, Mr T.K.Kurien, on Thursday. The company plans to have about 300 people in China over time, he said. Wipro BPO reported a 20 per cent year-on-year growth in revenues during June quarter at Rs 251.5 crore. However, the June quarter revenues declined by 4.5 per cent over March quarter’s Rs 263.6 crore. Profit before Interest and tax grew by 35 per cent to Rs 57.4 crore (Rs 42.6 crore in Q1 last year). Terming the company’s performance in June quarter as “interesting,” Mr Kurien said Wipro BPO was able to contain the impact of rupee on margins mainly due to the change in service mix. Wipro BPO reported OPM of 23 per cent during the quarter as compared to 25 per cent in March quarter and 20 per cent a year ago. Wipro BPO’s integrated services mix has gone up to around 37 per cent as compared to five per cent some two years ago, he said. “Improved seat utilization and increased pricing has helped us during the quarter,” he said.
