Our Bureau Mumbai, July 10 Kids Media India (KMI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Dubai-based SpaceToon Media International Group, has announced the launch of its licensing and merchandising business in India and SAARC countries. The company in the business of children’s television programming and licensing of cartoon characters has come out with the animated character Doraemon. According to Mr Rajiv Sangari, CEO of Kids Media India: “The Doraemon character will be immediately available throughout the country for licensing for use by book publishers, children’s apparel manufacturers, toys and games, accessories, footwear, watches, party goods, stationery, gifts and other such consumer products. The SpaceToon Group is involved in radio, licensing, merchandising, online and interactive products. It also deals in children’s media brands in West Asia and North Africa and has a presence in Indonesia, Korea and in India. The group’s flagship channel, SpaceToon Kids TV, plans to start its kids’ channels in India, Korea and Russia. With its business focus on India, Mr Sangari said KMI will be licensing, merchandising, syndicating, and promoting events for its animated products. Appointed agent
He said KMI has also been appointed as the agent of the Hong Kong-registered Animation International Ltd, which is the licensor for Doraemon and other well-known media products. It has over 500 licensees for more than 2,000 products distributed in 10 countries. It distributes characters such as those in Jungle Book, Chibi Maruko, Ochaken, Panda Z, Post Pet and Let’s & Go throughout Asia.
