Consulting Logistics - Railways States - Karnataka RITES bags Bangalore Metro consultancy contract Our Bureau
New Delhi June 25 A consortium of RITES Ltd (India) - PCI (Japan) - PBI (USA) - SYSTRA (France) has bagged a Rs 215 crore order to provide general consultancy services to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. The services would be provided for Bangalore Metro Project Phase 1, which consists of 33km of the metro network in two corridors the East-West corridor (18 km) and North - South Corridor (15 km). It includes seven km of the underground tracks, while the rest is elevated. The project is scheduled to be commissioned by December 31, 2011.
Total value
The total value of the consultancy services is about Rs 215 crore out of which, the RITES' share is Rs 126.5 crore (58.8 per cent). Consultants will advise on system design to commissioning of the project including its integration with the other modes of transport in Bangalore, according to a RITES statement. The Rs 6,395-crore Bangalore Metro project is partly being funded (to the extent of about Rs 1,800 crore) by JBIC, Japan. According to ridership surveys, Bangalore Metro is expected to serve 10.2 lakh people per day in 2011 and 16.1 lakh people per day by 2021. RITES was also involved in providing the general consultancy services for Delhi Metro Project Phase - 1. It is also providing the consultancy services for Delhi Metro Phase - 2 as well as for the Delhi international airport metro line.
