Hyderabad-based Aurobindo Pharma Ltd has secured USFDA approval for Cefpodoxime proxetil tablets in the strengths of 100mg and 200mg. This is the seventh cephalosporin approval for the company.

Cefpodoxime is the generic version of Pharmacia Upjohns Vantin and mostly used to treat acute otitis media, community acquired pneumoniae, uncomplicated urinary tract infections and also skin infections. The USFDA has also confirmed its approval for Cefpodoxime proxetil for oral suspension in the strengths of 50mg/5ml and 100mg/5ml, according to a release.
