Teradata's second global consulting centre in Pune

R. Savitha

Pune June 15 Teradata, a division of the NCR corporation and a player in the enterprise data warehousing sector, , is all set to open its second global consulting centre in the country.

The second centre would be in Pune, the first being in Mumbai.

Mr David Klumb, Vice-President of Teradata Global Professional Services, told Business Line that the centre would cater to three areas — business intelligence, data integration and managed services.

The centre would complement the Mumbai centre, he said. It would have consultants on board next month and the centre would begin its operations by mid July.

The centre would be opened at Magarpatta city, Hadapsar.

"We are experiencing substantial growth in Teradata's Global Professional Services consulting.

"The consulting centre's team in Pune follows the successful model of our centre in Mumbai. It will be an extension of Teradata Professional Services.

"We expect continuing growth for both centres in India. Teradata is opening this centre to respond to emerging trends in the global marketplace. In today's competitive environment, data warehousing and business intelligence are regarded as mission critical to organisational success, often as a primary basis for competition," he said.

"A large number of organisations across the world have come to regard data warehousing as the heart of their core infrastructure and a key enabler to empower businesses in their day-to-day decision-making processes. Our customers leverage their Teradata data warehouses to help them make better, faster decisions to drive growth and profitability," he pointed out.

Mr David said the centre would cater to markets of the US and South Asia. Currently, the North Asia markets are being addressed by the China centre. He said the European market is being addressed by the Pakistan centre.

Other operations

Giving details about the other operations in India, he said a research and development centre functioned in Hyderabad. It is the Centre of Excellence and has four teams working on research, engineering deliverables and customer support.

He said it has applications group (focus on supporting Teradata application platform), client and platform engineering group, test and support engineering (focus on connectivity and utilities software for product development and quality assurance), the database engineering group (provides support to the existing product line) and customer support group. It had sales offices in Mumbai and New Delhi and an office in Bangalore.
