Mumabi June 4 Reflecting the firm demand from the realty sector before the monsoon sets in, cement major ACC has reported a 18.95 per cent jump in dispatches to 1.82 million tonnes (mt) in May against 1.53 mt during the corresponding period last year. Production rose 15.92 per cent in May to 1.82 mt against 1.57 mt during the corresponding period last year. Cumulative dispatches of ACC between January and May rose 4.67 per cent to 8.50 mt against 8.12 mt in the corresponding period last year, while production was up 4.17 per cent to 8.51 mt against 8.15 mt in the corresponding period last year. ACC shares on the BSE fell 1.56 per cent to Rs 838.75 in a weak market on Monday.
Grasim output
Cement production of Grasim in May moved up 3.66 per cent to 27.05 lakh tonnes (lt), while dispatches grew 4.75 per cent to 27.10 lt. Production in April-May was up 3.35 per cent at 54.63 lt against 52.86 lt during April-May 2006. Dispatches rose 4.39 per cent at 54.44 lt in April-May against 52.15 lt in the corresponding period last year. Grasim Industries stocks closed 3.19 per cent lower at Rs 2,439.65 on Monday.
