MR DARRYL GREEN

New Delhi, May 26

Tata Teleservices on Saturday announced the resignation of its CEO Mr Darryl Green. Mr Green tendered his resignation citing personal reasons. Commenting on his tenure, Mr Green said it has been his privilege to have been associated with the Tata Group, and he is proud of the team at Tata Teleservices and its achievements. Mr Green was the only foreigner holding the CEO's post in any of the telecom companies. The Tatas had pushed the case for allowing foreigner to hold key positions in the telecom sector during the time when the Government was finalising its FDI policy. While the Government in its initial guidelines had said that no foreigner would be allowed to hold key posts such as CEO and CFO, this was diluted later after the Tatas raised concerns. The new guidelines, which allowed foreigners to hold key positions, are scheduled to be implemented from June 1. Mr Green, who was with Vodaphone, is understood to be joining a Japanese firm.
