Recreation, tailoring sectors on a roll

Hyderabad May 8 Recreation, tailoring, sewage disposal and hairdressing might look small as the juggernaut of State's economy rolls on.

But gross value added from these activities showed significant improvement last year.

At current prices, hairdressing and other beauty treatment activity generated a gross value of Rs 777 crore in 2005-06 as against Rs 519 crore in 1999-2000.

Custom tailoring contributed Rs 667 crore (Rs 447 crore in 1999-2000).

During the period, gross value added from recreational, cultural and sporting activities went up to Rs 802 crore from Rs 702 crore.
