The Hindu Business Line : `Cos must represent case on H-1B visa'

New Delhi May 8 In an attempt to engage software association body Nasscom and the Indo-US Business Alliance (USIBA) to raise the cap on the current H-1B visas, the Chairman of the House Committee on the Judiciary, Mr John Conyers, urged the associations to represent their case. He requested the member companies to testify before the Congressional panel on immigration at the upcoming hearing that would be held by the committee. The Judiciary Committee will work with USIBA in identifying potential witnesses for the hearings.

The Nasscom President, Mr Kiran Karnik, said, "Over 300 of Nasscom's 1,200 members are American corporations. Today, India's information technology sector has generated thousands of jobs in the US by setting up offices and development facilities across the country. It would be our pleasure to work with members of Congress in taking this effort forward."
