Rlys passenger earnings up

The Indian Railways has registered a 13.79 per cent increase in passenger earnings during the financial year 2006-07 at Rs 17,160.12 crore up from Rs 15,080.77 crore recorded during the previous year. It also registered an increase of 15.48 per cent in freight earnings at Rs 41,904.80 crore during the financial year 2006-07 up from Rs 36,286.97 crore recorded during the previous year.

An official statement issued here on Tuesday states that the Indian Railways carried 728.41 million tonnes (mt) during the financial year 2006-07 up from 666.51 mt loaded during the previous year.
