Mutual Funds Money & Banking - Stocks Nilanjan Dey
Kolkata, April 26 Banking funds have clearly gained from the surging bank stocks, as the latest figures suggest. These funds have topped one-week charts with 5.56 per cent (as on April 25), according to Value Research, beating index funds that have come a close second. The funds' average 1- and 3-month scores were 6.08 per cent and minus 1.54 per cent. Their one-year tally is nearly 34 per cent. UTI Banking Sector Fund has turned out nearly 34 per cent during this period. Bank stocks currently account for a large percentage of leading funds' portfolios, many of which have bought into heavyweight stocks such as SBI, PNB and ICICI Bank.
