Alcan plans new office in Mumbai

Our Bureau

Mumbai April 21

Even though Alcan, the world's second largest aluminium producer, has decided to exit from its joint venture with Hindaco in the alumina project being set up in Orissa, it is on the look-out for other opportunities in India.

Seeing significant prospects in India, Alcon is setting up a new commercial office in Mumbai to support its growing opportunities in the country.

The new office will be named Alcan India Pvt Ltd, a company press release said.

"With India being one of the most exciting growth economies in the world today, it is a logical step for us to open an office there. With a mixture of local knowledge and global presence, this new office will open the door in and out of India for Alcan and our external partners," Mr Jean Pierre Paillot, President, Alcan International Network, said.

The new AIN office will be staffed by a commercial team with a high level of product expertise in metals (aluminium, steel, ferro alloys), minerals and chemicals.
