Alliances & Joint Ventures IHG ropes in partners to develop Indian units Our Bureau
New Delhi April 5 The UK-based InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the signing of management contracts in India. IHG which claims to be the world's largest hotel group by number of rooms owns, manages, leases or franchises through subsidiaries over 3,700 hotels and 556,000 guest rooms in nearly 100 countries and territories. The contracts signed include InterContinental Pune, Holiday Inn Hinjewadi Pune, Holiday Inn Ernakulam, Kochi, Crowne Plaza Cochin, Crowne Plaza New Delhi and another Crowne Plaza in south India. IHG has announced the establishment of its new headquarters for South West Asia in Gurgaon, said a press release.

InterContinental Pune will be developed with the Poonawalla Group and will have 200 rooms. Crowne Plaza Cochin will be developed with KGA Group and will have 220 rooms. The 250-room Holiday Inn Hinjewadi Pune will be developed with Vascon Engineers. Holiday Inn Ernakulam, Kochi, to be developed with Indroyal Group, will offer 253 contemporary guest rooms. "IHG is excited to be successfully working with developers to offer our proven hotel management capabilities and world-class brands to the dynamic Indian hospitality market. Expanding our already significant employee base and operations in India underpins our long-term commitment towards the country," said Mr Tony South, senior vice-president, Development and Asset Management, IHG Asia Pacific.
