Global textile meet at Coimbatore in June

Coimbatore March 30 An international conference on advances in textiles, machinery, non-woven and technical textiles, ATNT 2007, will be held in Coimbatore between June 18 and 20.

The meet jointly hosted by the Texas Tech University's Institute of Environmental and Human Health (TIEHH) and the Coimbatore-based Kumaraguru College of Technology is being sponsored by the US-based association of the non-woven fabrics industry (INDA), American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, Bayer CropScience-Certified FiberMax Cotton, Delta and Pine Land Company and the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance, according to Mr Seshadri Ramkumar, organising secretary of the conference and assistant professor at TIEHH.

The conference will showcase collaboration in the field of textiles between India and the US and the meet has received support from the industry and academics from countries including the UK, the US, Germany, Australia and Japan which figure in the international technical committee.

Among the topics to be covered in the conference are medical/technical textiles, defence textiles, decontamination/protection technology, composites processing, nanomaterials, smart and wearable electronic textiles, apparel fashion trends and fibre and textile economics etc.
