Textbook case: Mr L.H. Bhatia, former Marketing Director, BPL, interacting with students of NMKRV College for Women at Jayanagar in Bangalore on Friday. - G R N Somashekar

Bangalore March 9 Mr L.H. Bhatia, former Marketing Director, BPL Ltd, today urged students of the BBM (Bachelor in Business Management) programme of the NMKRV College here to use business media tools (newspapers and channels) in the pursuit of their careers.

"The Indian economy is in a high growth phase and needs people like you to contribute to the GDP."

Reading text books and other academic tools would guide the students better if it is supported by other tools such as exposure to the business media, he said.

Speaking at a BL Club sponsored talk on the changing role of marketing in the new Indian economy, he said the `shops' are giving way to different retail formats such as supermarkets and hypermarkets.

"There is an evolution in retailing and the methods of distribution of products to match the growing aspirations of people," he said.
