Kolkata Feb. 19 Bengal Shrachi Housing Development Ltd (BSHDL) has made a foray into Tier II & III cities through `Junction', a new one-stop entertainment hub in Durgapur, West Bengal.

Strategically located in the commercial centre of Durgapur, `Junction' — foundation stone for which was laid recently by the State Minister for Municipal Affairs and Urban Development, Mr Ashok Bhattacharya — will be spread over 4 lakh sq ft, on six floors and a basement, providing a unique shopping and entertainment experience.

Entertainment Facilities

Spread over a total land area of 2.8 acres, the amusement zone, according to company officials, will offer innovative and novel concepts of shopping and entertainment.

The new glitzy mall, designed by Stephen Coates of aCTa International will house cafes, department stores, a multiplex, international fashion labels, home electronic stores, gaming zones and restaurants besides a host of other entertainment facilities.

According to Mr S.K. Todi, Director, BSHDL, the company's endeavour was to make a mark in the retail & realty landscape of West Bengal and also penetrate the mini metros and towns.

Junction, he said, aims to redefine the shopping experience of the discerning consumers of Durgapur by combining the right mix of products with a right mix of services.

Major Projects

BSHDL, formed in 1997, is a joint venture between the West Bengal Housing Board and Shrachi Group.

According to Mr Todi, BSHDL has completed major projects such as Greenwood Park, Greenwood Nook and Greenwood Park Extension.

Among the projects in the pipeline are BlockByBlock, a first of its kind complete home solutions mall coming up at New Town, Kolkata; Synthesis Business Park — the second green building of the city; a 257-acre satellite township in Burdwan district, which will be completed by mid 2009; Greenwood Sonata and a Rs 100-crore project titled `Neo-City' at Cuttack-Bhubaneswar highway.

BSHDL has recently tied up with Rosedale Garden Complex Inc, a US-based Developer, to construct `Rosedale Garden', a township in New Town for NRIs.
