New Delhi Feb. 8 The Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) on Thursday said that it has approved the commercial production of oil from a deep-water block in the Krishna-Godavari basin run by Reliance Industries Ltd. Commercial production from the block is seen at 30,000-50,000 barrels per day, Mr V.K. Sibal, Director-General of the Directorate, said.

RIL had in June last said that it discovered crude oil in the Krishna-Godavari exploration area off India's east coast. It had discovered oil in D6 block last year while drilling the MA-1 exploration well, which also led to significant rise in gas reserves in the block.
